Safeguarding Policy

Marine Hypnotherapy is committed to safeguarding children (12+) and vulnerable adults in accordance with UK Safeguarding Level 2 training standards.


1. Purpose

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of:

  • Children aged 12–17
  • Vulnerable adults

2. Definition of Vulnerable Adult

A vulnerable adult is a person who:

  • Has care and support needs
  • Is experiencing or at risk of abuse or neglect
  • Is unable to protect themselves

3. Confidentiality & Disclosure

Confidentiality may be overridden if:

  • There is risk of serious harm
  • There are safeguarding concerns
  • A child or vulnerable adult is at risk
  • Required by law

Where possible, the client will be informed before disclosure.


4. Procedure in Case of Concern

If safeguarding concerns arise:

1. Immediate risk → Emergency services (999)

2. Non-immediate risk → Appropriate local safeguarding authority

3. Concerns may also be shared with:

  • The client’s GP
  • Social services
  • Relevant healthcare professionals

All concerns are documented securely.


5. Prevention Measures

  • Parental consent required for minors
  • Professional boundaries maintained at all times
  • Secure data storage
  • Ongoing safeguarding awareness

6. Confidentiality

All information shared in therapy is confidential.

However, confidentiality may be broken if:

  • there is risk of serious harm
  • safeguarding concerns arise
  • disclosure is required by law
